Pet ID Tag - A Potential Life Saver!

Category : pet care, pet products, pet supplies
Date Published : August 6, 2008

A Pet ID Tag is your pet’s most reliable ticket towards home.

Studies have proved that at least one in every three pets gets lost in his lifetime. And without proper identification, over 85% of these pets will not be able to find their way home and your sweet little Fido could be gone from your life forever.

One of the most common reasons why pets cannot make their way back home is the absence of proper identification or a pet ID tag. This could mean three things. First, the lost pet does not have a pet ID tag at all. Second, the finder cannot find the pet ID tag or, it could be that the pet’s identification is inadequate of names or with unreadable contact details. Third, the tag could be an outdated pet ID tag with the owner’s wrong address.

Because of these, various pet advocates have been promoting the use of a pet id tag for their pets. Not only will this help your pets find their way home during unexpected situations, these tags will also maintain the peace of mind of the owner.

How does a pet ID tag work?

First of all, bear in mind that an effective pet id tag should include the pet’s name, the owner’s name and his address, the owner’s contact details.  Microchip versions (that are inserted under the skin) can even include the veterinarian’s contact details, the current rabies vaccination and licensing information and health problems which require medication. Owners should also make sure that the information in the tag or microchip is updated. If the owner has moved to a new house, then the address should reflect the most recent location of the pet owner.

If the contact details in the tag are updated and readable, then there is no reason why your pet won’t find his way home. Secure your pets and make him your forever. Get him a pet ID tag now. Pet ID tags are available in your favorite pet supplies stores and microchipping is provided by most vets and animal shelters.
